Micro-dermabrasion is the process of using a tiny sandblaster to make very small incremental changes in the skin structure. It generally is not painful, and it is useful mostly for pigment improvements. Some dermatologists are reporting improvement of deeper scarring problems if it is used for many treatments over long periods of time.
This is usually a very conservative treatment primarily disigned, in our opinion, for the astheticians office. Don't expect miracles! For best results, its use should be accompanied by cream treatments with Retin A, Renova, glycolics, and/or vitamin C creams.
