Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) Los Angeles, Visalia, Fresno, Bakersfield

If you feel droopy skin around your eyes is making you look older than you should, blepharoplasty may be a good choice for you. The procedure, commonly referred to as eyelid surgery, helps our Los Angeles and Simi Valley patients, as well as men and women in communities like Fresno near our Visalia office.

The surgery can be performed on the upper or lower lids or both. We use the Ultrapulse CO2 laser, which seals blood vessels, making bruising unlikely. Dr. Yoho was one of the first cosmetic surgeons in Los Angeles to gain experience with this laser. The upper lid procedure involves removing a small amount of skin and fat, and then stitching in the lid crease. To remove lower-lid fat bags, there are two approaches. The modern method, which we use exclusively, is through the inside of the lid. No stitches are required. Chances of unnatural drooping of the lower lid are minimized. The older method goes directly though the skin of the lower lid.

Some of our Visalia and Los Angeles cosmetic surgery patients need other eyelid procedures to smooth out the wrinkles of the lower lid. There are two options: laser resurfacing (laser peeling), or taking a little pinch of skin from the lower lid near the lashes. Lower eyelid surgery without skin resurfacing has a much easier recovery, but the results aren't as consistent. Some patients choose to have their eyelid surgery and come back later to have resurfacing when they have more time. Eyelid surgery patients should use ice compresses for the first 24-hour period and most require only two to three days off work if they don’t have resurfacing and about a week if they do.

Some people have a very narrow space between their eyebrows and eyelashes and they can benefit from having a little bit — sometimes only 1/8th of an inch — of elevation of their brows. Brow lifts go along with eyelid lifts because a careful brow lift can make an eyelid lift much more spectacular. The modern brow lift is done through a few incisions in the scalp. Brow lift patients do have some pain after the procedure and may need codeine-type painkillers for about 2 days after the surgery.

Now that we have told you about our eyelid surgery for Los Angeles residents, we invite you to request a free consultation with Dr. Yoho today. If you are considering Los Angeles eyelid surgery or browlift, or if you're interested in facial cosmetic surgery in Fresno or Visalia, Dr. Yoho would like to meet with you and answer all your questions.
