And they can create an electrical battery effect with dental amalgams that causes release of toxic mercury.

By Robert Yoho and Deborah Butler (The World Has Gone Mad Substack). Our dental episode HERE is valuable background.

Dr. Schroeder’s interview includes patient audio testimonials. He wrote:

I have placed thousands of metallic implants in my patients over my 30-year foot and ankle surgeon career. I didn’t ask many questions about metal allergies or reactions earlier in my practice. It wasn’t until my partner placed titanium alloy screws in my wife during bunion surgery that I started paying attention.

After the surgery, she had burning, shooting pains every night for about four months and could not put her foot under the covers. She would go to bed with an ice pack to get her foot calmed down to try to sleep. When the hardware was removed, the pain went away. This was 16 years ago, and it opened my eyes. We learned subsequently that my wife was allergic to aluminum and nickel. The titanium screws also contained vanadium, aluminum, and a trace amount of nickel.

In 2019, I presented “Systemic Effects of Metal Allergies” to the FDA. My cases included an engineer in his forties who became paralyzed for 10-12 hours per day shortly after I placed eight 2.0 mm screws in his feet. When he returned for another issue about four years later, I operated on one of his feet and noticed swelling where the screws were. So I removed them because of a possible nickel allergy.

When the patient returned for his second post-op visit, he finally told me his paralysis story. He said he had been immobilized for over ten hours a day, but immediately after the screws were removed, the pattern decreased to three hours a day. He had been seen at Mayo Clinic several times, and they told him, “Sorry, you are just going to be in a wheelchair the rest of your life, and eventually, your wife will have to put you in a nursing home.” I sent his blood to Germany to test for metal allergies with the “MELISA-optimized lymphocyte transformation assay.” I was already working with Dr. Vera Stejskal, the Swedish immunotoxicologist who invented the test.

This showed that the engineer was allergic to nickel and palladium. We learned that the gold crowns in his mouth were 26% palladium and that he also had a titanium screw in his knee. When we removed the screw from his knee, he had a minor improvement, but the day his last gold crown was taken out of his mouth, his paralysis disappeared and has not recurred. That was several years ago.

I have many other stories about patients who have had stunning health improvements after I removed metal from their bodies. And I had placed most of it!

I have been presenting around the world about this since 2015. I have lectured in Australia, New Zealand, London, Turkey, and the US. I have learned from many top researchers and physicians. When I presented in London, the Queen’s Orthopedist who lectured after me bought my wife and me drinks that night.

Before Dr. Stejskal passed on from breast cancer, she had been working with European surgeons and dentists. They had many cases where chronic pain associated with a total hip or knee would go away after the removal of dental metals. I was intrigued but skeptical, so I started paying more attention to my cases and asking more questions about patients with multiple metals in their bodies. I began seeing patterns.

To learn more, I am working with engineers who specialize in “body galvanic corrosion.” Yesterday the ethics committee approved our study on explanted materials associated with the various symptoms. It is a combined effort of the University of Victoria and the University of British Columbia. I am an adjunct faculty member working with a professor at the University of Victoria.

Scott describes two different problems:

  • metal allergy to orthopedic devices

  • metal orthopedic implants causing dental amalgams to release toxic mercury through a battery effect.

Implants, particularly orthopedic ones, are ubiquitous. The most commonly recognized allergies to their components involve nickel, cobalt, chromium, and bone cement. Practicing orthopedists such as my co-interviewer Jeff Martin and MR, another senior orthopedist, have vast experience and say they are rare. MR adds:

I do see metal allergies from time to time. We get an allergist involved before or after as required. I don’t have any dramatic cures effected by metal removal or severe symptoms like paralysis. We don’t know how common these allergies are. I recognize them seldom, and it is usually the patient who thinks or asks about that possibility.

Checking for allergies. Sending blood to Germany for the MELISA test is unnecessary. Any allergist can place skin patches that have these substances on them. If a rash is seen when they take these off a few days later, the patient is allergic to whatever is on the patch. Nickel allergy is the most common; five to twelve percent of the population has it. Taping a nickel coin to the inner thigh and checking for a rash in a day or two is a simple test for this.

Testing for mercury toxicity. Some practitioners use blood, urine, breath, hair, saliva, and even stool analysis. For chronic exposures—which are the majority—these are usually negative and an unneeded expense. Instead, most authorities remove amalgams and possibly orthopedic devices. If the patient improves, that is all anyone cares about.

Treatment for mercury toxicity. For very high levels, such as might occur in a poisoning, chelating agents such as Dimercaprol (BAL) bind the mercury and facilitate urinary elimination. These are usually given intravenously. They are rarely necessary for chronic cases because if the exposure stops, the body gradually clears the toxin. The symptomatic improvement can be dramatic.

My coauthor Deb has health issues that may be related to metals:

In February 2014, I had my right knee replaced. I was walking with a cane on the third day following surgery, and my tibia split from the knee down. The surgeons then inserted a metal rod. After that, I needed a walker everywhere I went.

In June 2021, our vehicle was hit by another car, and my right femur fractured just above the knee. The surgeons placed a second rod in my leg and did a total knee replacement. The next day, I could walk up and down steps for the first time in seven years. For 2 1/2 months, I had a spectacular recovery, but I developed an abscess in the anchor tooth of a three-tooth permanent bridge.

I had a root canal, but it has been downhill ever since. I have had pins and needles and loss of feeling in both legs. Walking is difficult. I have lost most feeling inside my mouth. I have joint pain, and 90% of my hair has fallen out. I spent tens of thousands of dollars on functional doctors, naturopaths, and holistic physicians without improvement.

In April 2023, I read Dr. Yoho’s Substack post about metals in vaccines. Mark Kennard from New Zealand wrote a comment about his experience with metal implants in his body, and his experiences sounded similar to mine. When I spoke to him, he referred me to Scott Schroeder, a Washington state orthopedist who discovered that the metals he implanted into his patients were making some of them chronically ill. Dr. Schroeder was kind enough to speak to me for over an hour, and I realized that I had likely been suffering from metal reactions since 2014.

I plan to remove as much metal as possible from my body, starting with my mouth. I will report what happens as I go through the process.

To be continued.

  1. Dental amalgam restorations are over fifty percent mercury. HERE is how dentists can remove them safely. From the website:

Reports and research are consistent that these fillings emit mercury vapors.2-16 Research demonstrates that dental mercury amalgams expose dental professionals, dental staff, dental patients, and/or fetuses to releases of mercury vapor, mercury-containing particulate, and/or other forms of mercury contamination.4-48 Mercury vapor is released from dental mercury amalgam fillings at higher rates during brushing, cleaning, clenching of teeth, chewing, etc.,5, 14, 15, 24, 30, 49-54 and mercury is also known to be released during the placement, replacement, and removal of dental mercury amalgam fillings.2, 25, 28, 29, 32, 36, 41, 45, 46, 55-60

Their recommendations include the following:

  • Systems to dispose of the toxic waste

  • Elaborate gowns, drapes, and oral barriers during the removal

  • Oxygen and positive pressure air systems for patient and dental personnel

  • Face shields/hats/special gloves/properly-sealed, respiratory-grade masks

  • Suction and irrigation

I do not envy these people. They work in a profoundly toxic environment.

Thank you for sharing this, I hadnu2019t even considered this as a potential worry until now, which frankly Iu2019m shocked that I never thought of this before. But my Dad is in the hospital now, heu2019s 80 and just got titanium screws put into his L5 area…and he seems to be doing well (itu2019s been 3.5 days now), but my FAR greater concern is my son whou2019s 15 is having back surgery in August. He has bilateral fractures in his lower back and after 2 years of pursuing every other option available, including some u2018experimentalu2019 options, fusing his back is the only option left. Weu2019ve been to 5 different specialists, multiple PT offices, etc but heu2019s now missed the last 2 seasons of lacrosse due to the pain in his lower back. But, Iu2019m going to call his Doctor and ask about getting him tested for allergies and find out what type of screws he uses (Iu2019m 90% sure he said titanium). Thank you again for raising awareness here!

I had a severe broken neck and had surgery 4 years ago here in Chile. The surgeon put in two metal plates and 6 screws. The surgeon told me the plates were titanium but never said anything about the screws. Since the surgery I have been progressively having neuropathy problems. The pain and numbness has grown from my hands and arms to my legs and feet. It seems as if my muscles are always tight. I also am loosing all my energy. I can be in bed 12 hours and still be tired.

Iu2019m on Gabapentin and tramadol. Nothing seems to work to stop the pain including morphine. Iu2019ve done physical therapy, used every holistic medicine and acupuncture. One other monkey wrench is I had implants in my mouth just before I broke my neck. And I donu2019t know what the implant screws are made of.
This was a great interview and maybe points to the problem I have.

    • Avatar I_Am_Unconconquerable says:

B Carlson, I am only two years out, yet I can identify with everything you are experiencing. My recommendation, stop the gabapentin immediately! Tramadol is a mild opiate, and if it helps, keep taking it, but only when absolutely necessary. I went through opiate withdrawal for 2 1/2 weeks. It was very difficult, but nothing in comparison to withdrawing from benzodiazepines.

      • Avatar Susie AH says:

I had similar surgery to B Carlson, 2 rods and 4 screws in my C spine, all titanium and I seem OK. Iu2019ve had more titanium in my shoulder and took Gabaoentin, then Pregablin. The withdrawal from both was awful but getting off the Pregablin took 6 months of hell. I have never taken anything so addictive, including opioids. These are street drugs in the UK now and recently became controlled drugs but it took a very long time and I dread to think how many people have suffered because of it. A drug developed by Pfizer!

        • Avatar Brent Carlson says:

Did you go off gradually or cold turkey. Thanks for your reply

          • Avatar Susie AH says:

I started reducing gradually until I was on a half dose and then made the mistake of going cold turkey. For me the reason for coming off it wasnu2019t so much the side effects which were a feeling of elation and an outrageous sex drive that could not be satisfied. Sounds like fun but it wasnu2019t, I came off because I realised I would need to keep increasing the dose until I reached the max – then what would I do? I realised it would be harder to withdraw the more I was taking so decided to bite the bullet sooner rather than later. I nearly killed myself driving on Gabaoentin and when I stopped that drug I collapsed in the shower but I immediately started the Pregabalin so didnu2019t notice any more withdrawal. I hope this information helps. I have stayed off opiates and gabapentinoids and now use cannabis (full strength) to relax me from pain. Itu2019s safer and non addictive. Good luck I hope it works out well for you.

          • Avatar Brent Carlson says:

Thank you. Iu2019m cutting to 1/2 dose today. I donu2019t have sex drive or elation. I just feel cold when I am sweating

          • Avatar Susie AH says:

I would reduce more gradually than that. Ask you Dr to prescribe smaller strength tablets and do it very very gradually. If not the sweating gets worse.

          • Avatar Brent Carlson says:

Thanks for your concern. I take either 300 or 400 mg tablets depending on what the pharmacy has in stock. I then take 6 300mg every 8 hours Iu2019m going to try and just take 3, one each 8 hours.

It doesnu2019t really take away the pain and sometimes I need to take a sleeping pill to sleep. Nothing seems to fully take way the pain in my arms and hands. I can cut or burn my fingers and never know when it happened

But I do know the 6-8 Gabapentin and 4-6 100mg pills are not good for me.

Wish me luck, I only took one Gabapentin at 16:00. Thanks for the information that the Gabapentin is dangerous. I was worried about the opiate Tramadol thinking I could use the Gabapentin without consequence.

I will pray to God to give me the strength and fortitude to stop the drug.

          • Avatar Susie AH says:

I hope it all works out for you but your doctor should help you with this withdrawal. My very best wishes to you.

My neurologist is the one who put me on this regimen. I went back to him a couple months ago. He tapped my knees a couple times and when asked said there was nothing he could do. He even said there were no other medications or suggested I stop. Then charged me 100$.

          • Avatar Robert Yoho MD (ret) says:

neurologists love this drug and it has also spread to anesthesiologists and other specialties.
Gabapentin is approved to prevent and control partial seizures, relieve postherpetic neuralgia after shingles and moderate-to-severe restless legs syndrome. I have not reviewed the studies, but they are likely paid for by the drug companies. I don’t advise you what to do, only that if you can get off medications and exercise you may have better pain control. I believe over half of prescription drugs are useless or worse.

        • Avatar Brent Carlson says:

Ok day one I reduced Gabapentin from 1800 to 1200. Will do this a week and then cut back to 900. The next week 600 etc. Iu2019ll worry about the Tramadol after. Iu2019m taking 600 mg of that crap too.

And his COPD inhaler is a steroid. Which he didn’t think I should know about. No one told him not to take Steroids, Cortisones, or prednisone as a Diabetic. Nor if you have Glaucoma. I’ve been partially down this road. I had a titanium implant with an abutment screw made of Argen 86 creating a battery in my mouth. I also had a titanium pin in a toe. Biological dentist did a Clifford Reactivity Materials test to determine if I was sensitive to titanium or zirconia. It said I wasn’t. The Argen 86 abutment screw was replaced after 9 years with a zirconia screw. I now wished I had had the entire implant removed and replaced along with the pin in my toe.

Mercury is gradually excreted mainly in the stool as I understand it, and patients mostly gradually improve on their own. This may be more for true intoxications with elevated levels but what do I know.

    • Avatar I_Am_Unconconquerable says:

Robert, in the book you recommended, it says this:
“one of the problems with mercury fillings is that mercury is released continuously, 24/7, and even a very small amount of mercury has the potential to do a tremendous amount of damage. Human beings do not metabolize mercury very well. For all intents and purposes, we do so only a little better than fish do. Fish do not metabolize mercury at all! This means that when a fish comes into contact with mercury, it retains all of it. The fish cannot break it down and expel any of the mercury through their urine, fecal matter, or skin (or should I say scales and fins). Whereas, when we come into contact with mercury, we keep most of it. We can break down a small amount via a process called methylation and release some of it through our urine, hair, fecal matter, or skin. When mercury is released from amalgam fillings, we keep almost all of that mercury! There are many different opinions on how much mercury humans can excrete. I have read that humans get rid of approximately 30 mcg (micrograms) of mercury per day (a microgram is one-thousandth of a milligram). However, u201CMost human metallic mercury exposure comes from mercury vapor outgassing from amalgam fillings, at a rate of 2 to 28 micrograms per facet”
Recall when I told you that I have two MTHFR genetic SNPs? This condition involves a methylation problem. If methylation is the major factor in your body disposing of mercury, 50% of the population have a major problem.

Mercury Involvement in Neuronal Damage and in Neurodegenerative Diseases – PubMed
      ‘Abstract
Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and multiple sclerosis are characterized by a chronic and selective process of neuronal cell death. ..Among environmental causes, the accumulation of mercury, a heavy metal considered a toxic agent, was largely studied as a probable factor involved in neurodegenerative disease course. Mercury exists in three main forms: elemental mercury, inorganic mercury, and organic mercury (methylmercury and ethylmercury). Sources of elemental mercury can be natural (volcanic emission) or anthropogenic (coal-fired electric utilities, waste combustion, hazardous-waste incinerators, and gold extraction). Moreover, mercury is still used as an antiseptic, as a medical preservative, and as a fungicide. Dental amalgam can emit mercury vapor. Mercury vapor, being highly volatile and lipid soluble, can cross the blood-brain barrier and the lipid cell membranes and can be accumulated into the cells in its inorganic forms. Also, methylmercury can pass through blood-brain and placental barriers, causing serious damage in the central nervous system. This review describes the toxic effects of mercury in cell cultures, in animal models, and in patients with neurodegenerative diseases. In vitro experiments showed that mercury exposure was principally involved in oxidative stress and apoptotic processes. Moreover, motor and cognitive impairment and neural loss have been confirmed in various studies performed in animal models. Finally, observational studies on patients with neurodegenerative diseases showed discordant data about a possible mercury involvement.’

I knew Dr. Scott Schroeder when I lived in Washington, where his practice was.
    He is an excellent practitioner.
If I knew how to get in touch with him, I’d add my story to his list of patient experiences. I fractured my ankle (leaving work at the local hospital, of all things) in 2010 and subsequently underwent ORIF. When I recovered from that (and the subsequent PE I had, just to make life more interesting) and could no longer blame the aches in every joint in my body on anything else, I looked into metal toxicity/allergy. I found stories similar to all of these. I asked the orthopedic surgeon who did the ORIF to schedule me for hardware removal. He refused, saying “That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.”
I had one of Dr. Schroeder’s partners remove the metal plate and 8 screws. The morning after the surgery, I woke up feeling as flexible as al dente pasta, rather than the Tin Man in need of an oil can. It was remarkable.

Overall low back surgeries as they are performed now are statistical failures. Studies do not support them. That said, if you have the right surgeon who knows?

      • Avatar ABIGAIL REPORTS says:

Not in Memphis, we have 1 of the best Partial or Full Knee and Shoulder surgeons in the state. Till Biden ordered Medicare only full knees. He refuses to do what is not needed. And he is upfront with you every step of the way. Dean was driving short distances in 5 days with the partials. Sends you home with a pain pump that deflates in 3 days, you pull the tube out. A-1 ice pack for as long as you think you need it. NO REHAB either, other than bands he gives you with written and picture instructions. A couple of return visits. You are done. He is into Stem Cells now. Dr. Lawerence Schrader Cordova, TN.

He would be an interesting podcast.

I use a back brace for my lumbar and a heating pad. Ice makes the pain worse.

The problem with patch testing is it is not reliable. A positive result is reliable but not a negative result
And itu2019s all to do with how long they are left on and the instructions the patients are given.

When many people develop systemic allergies to orthopaedic implants the symptoms may not show up until a week later. So why would a patch test give a reliable result in 2 days? In my multiple experiences itu2019s once we start to eat normally and exercise normally that sets off the symptoms. The increase in our metabolism sets it off.

But patch testing is usually only done for two days and when I did it I was told to rest and keep my metabolism slow

But keeping my metabolism slow is how I mitigate the symptoms of my implant. If I do no exercise and eat only red meat then the symptoms go away. So keeping my metabolism slow during patch testing isnu2019t going to show a result

    Itu2019s a waste of time
Hair testing is also a waste of time in my opinion.
You need tests like the Melisa test

The Melisa test should be added to the standard bio marker tests that drs use. Because those standard biomarkers are next to useless for those who have the genetic mutations which make our bodies struggle with metal toxins. If those hypersensitive to metals were identified at a young age we could halve all cause hospital demand and decrease crime considerably

    • Avatar Robert Yoho MD (ret) says:

      a sophisticated opinion
trial of therapy (taking out implants if possible) is also reasonable

      • Avatar Mark Kennard says:

Iu2019ve heard so many itu2019s hard to remember. Iu2019ve had many women contact me to tell me their stories. The biggest take away I took was how it made them feel. Or how they thought it made their significant other think about them. As I know, itu2019s very difficult sustaining a marriage long term with chronic illness and no answers. An implant is an implant unfortunately. A foreign body that the immune system will attack. They have metals in them. The biggest mistake I see is surgeons removing them and then putting metal markers or surgical clips in them. So of course they initially get better then they fall Iu2019ll from the markets or clips. I know of two women who had 25+ clips in their bodies without knowing about any of them. Every dr they saw ignored them too because of process of course. They assume the product is safe so donu2019t mention it. And the system is set up to fight any dr who tries. So for decades these women have been chronically Iu2019ll. Their whole lives a daily struggle.

I think what people also need to be aware of is white standard composite dental fillings. When people remove their mercury amalgams what do they replace them with
The problem with standard white composite dental fillings is they can only be cured properly with high heat. High heat canu2019t be used in the mouth so a uv light is used instead. The bottom line is that standard white composite fillings leak. They are full of metals and at the time I could only find one brand with one shade that was titanium dioxide free. Incisal shade.
But they have all sorts of metals and also alumina.
I have recently had a standard white composite removed. I got it replaced with saremco ceramic composites. They are far more biocompatible and appear not to leak. It cured my cardiac issues. Heart rate from 87 back to 60bpm. Normal blood pressure.
But then I had to get 6 big cavities filled as Iu2019ve been allergic to toothpaste since my 2019 surgery. Getting them made the cardiac symptoms come back.

On Thursday I get two more standard white composite fillings replaced with saremco ceramic composites. I am expecting with a high degree of confidence that my cardiac symptoms will disappear again. If not then they definitely will when the last two are replaced.
The reason for doing this is Iu2019m reacting to Cortoss bone cement that was used to plug a blood leak from my spine. So itu2019s in touch with my blood supply. The bone cement has alumina in it and about 6 months afterwards I became sensitive to the alumina in my standard white composite fillings as well. I had 4 removed in 2020 to mitigate some of the neurological symptoms and that worked.

So I reckon a good follow up story would be on standard white composite fillings and glass ionomer fillings. As they can be a trap when uninformed. I always recommend saremco ceramic dental products. They are designed with biocompatibility in mind. They also have no bpa or phthalates in them. If your holistic dr doesnu2019t have saremco then tell them to get hold of the distributor.

I knew the effects of the Dentistry industry around mercury amalgamation and considered orthopedic metals to probably be harmful, but necessary.
I had know idea there was actually a Dr discussing it publicly though. That you so much for sharing Scott Schroeders work with us. And tjank you for YOUR tireless work to enlighten others the damage done in the name of “healthcare”.uD83DuDE4F

A good friend felt as though he was dying, slowly. Lost all energy, uncomfortable daily, couldnu2019t sleepu2014 you name it. His wife, a surgeon, took him to every doc she could think of. Eventually all the docs and sheu2014 began to think he was psycho rather than medically ill. He would up in Germany were removed all amalgam fillings. They said heu2019s feel better in a week or so. He felt like a new person within 2 hours!!! He was practically doing cartwheels, so much so that his wife, by now a total
skeptic of his ailments and a total
believer in strictly western medicine, had hers removed as well! She hasnu2019t even felt sick but noticed an improvement in her overall sense of well being. Theyu2019ve both become
firm believers in the RIFE machine, several
other crazy sounding machines, grounding, eastern herbal medicinals and all things u201Cwoo-woou201D. His entire issue was amalgam fillings and an extreme sensitivity to 5G. *He knew the DAY my hubs installed some techno thing to speed up our internet. He called days later asking whether we had installed anything 5G, saying he could no longer sleep on that side of his house! We are neighbors.

Fantastic case, and I’m going to post on EMF soon. Turning off your wifi at night with a power strip and getting your cell phones out of the bedroom is a good start. Also switch off electricity to the part of the house where you sleep. Shielding the bedroom is expensive. Go to https://mercola.libsyn.com and search for EMF and listen to what Mercola has to say.

We are asking for validating the methodology of that vaccine production process which you stated should be considered proof that they isolated the virus.

Iu2019m hoping that this is very clear. And in any future discussions we have about the existence of the virus, it has to start with:

Did you find the virus in its natural ecosystem?

The answer, of course, is no.

And then, if you isolate the virus, as you say, through the cell culture process, how did you prove that the virus existed in the first place in order to do an experiment with it?

And how have you proven that the cytopathic effect could have only come from the virus?

Because every experiment that weu2019ve looked at has shown just the opposite.

  • Avatar jeffrey p lubina says:

Thank you, doc. I believe this is the most important audio/interview story youu2019ve done, and all surgeons and dentists should hear it. But many will not even entertain the discussion, and itu2019s maddening, literally. Iu2019ve still got mercury fillings, but no surgical implants, and Iu2019m confident they are a major reason why Iu2019ve never been able to recover from so much chronic pain and other neurological problems. My dental nightmares began as a child, then again in the Army, and now Iu2019m left with no realistic options to have them removed, other than the VA, which I refuse. Iu2019ve been unable to find a competent dentist to remove them, I think because most refuse to admit mercury or other metals are a problem, pretty much like doctors who are still unable to admit the COVID pandemic & vaxx protocols are a fraud.

  • Avatar mejbcart says:

Thank you for this another precious post! Just wonder about the history of the ‘amalgam’ solutions for humans, given that science must have known about the toxicity of that substance for a LONG time… Maybe it goes back to the bugs again, those who methylate the mercury to neurotoxic methylmercury (MeHg = Hg(II)) and the good ones which do the opposite demethylate to the relatively inert oxidized Hg(0)… And only the charged species react with proteins changing them completely. On top of it the bad Hg(II) is also binding to Thymine Bases in DNA… Zn does it very well too, but not if HgII is around (the same group in periodic table)… It’s like the huge heavy Goliath against the tiny David (Zn), the same valence charge against the mass. If anyone is resposible for this crime, it must be chemists, that why Andreas Noack is gone. Just miss his lectures, a lot.
